WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Class Attendance
- All classes are delivered live via Zoom.
- The Zoom Meeting ID will be in the "Class Information" email sent to you upon registration. If you do not see the email, please check your “All Mail” or "Spam" inboxes.
- Each class runs for an hour.
Multiple Sections (Timeslots) Available
- There are three "Sections" of CH2B on Tuesdays for you to choose from: 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm HST.
- You may switch which Section you attend, week to week, based on your schedule.
- You attend as many Sections as you pay for. If you want to attend both Sections, please register for the class twice.
You will have access to both Sections of the class videos and notes each week in BAND (see below). That equates to about 90 minutes of available instruction per week (45 mins x 2).
Class Materials On Band
- BAND (band.us) is the free forum system used for all ʻŌlelo Online classes.
- To gain access to the videos, notes, lesson sheets, assessments, and other class materials, you will need to join the private "BAND" group for this class.
- Your BAND invitation will be in the "Class Information" email sent to you upon registration. If you do not see the email, please check your “All Mail” or "Spam" inboxes.

SUPPLEMENTARY LANGUAGE LAB CLASS
We offer an optional supplementary $80 language lab/practice class for CH2A and CH2B students on Fridays at 2:30 pm HST to support your learning journey. Language Lab classes are taught by kumu Kalani Stoleson. If you are interested, you can add a Language Lab class to your Cart here.

ABOUT THE CLASS
The second step in Level Two is “CH2B” which is perfect for students who have been through CH2A a few times and are wanting to string together sentences into paragraph-length discourse, both written and spoken. CH2B students are also exposed further to traditional Hawaiian literature and audio recordings of Hawaiian language speakers. (CH2B is taught using Hawaiian as the language of instruction about 10% of the time.)
CH2B continues on from CH2A with attention paid to attaining knowledge in the following areas, among others:
- Further refinement of knowledge from CH1A through CH2A
- Short storytelling and narratives
- Pepeke Nonoʻa No/Na (something belongs to something)
- One more ʻawe type (ʻawe nonoʻa)
- Kuʻa joining particles for Pepeke Makua, Pepeke Keiki (e, i)
- Iʻoahenua in both ʻawe henua and ʻawe lauka
- Compressed and uncompressed possessives
- Talking about sequences of actions and things
- Times past and future
- Indeed, however, perhaps (nō, naʻe, paha)
- Māka Painu tense markers for storytelling and narratives
- Asking for something or a quantity of something using «i»
- Use of «hoʻo» to make transitive actions
- Using «poʻe», «wahi», and «nui» as kaʻi

We prefer to keep things simple!
If you need to cancel your eight-week Session with us within the first two weeks of class, we will refund you 100% of the cost of the class. We can also defer your attendance until the following Session if you prefer.
If you wish to change to another level after the Session has begun, we are happy to do that at no charge! Just let us know, and we'll get you set up in the class that fits your needs best!
If you are further than two weeks into the Session and wish to drop or otherwise have an issue, please contact us, and we can evaluate on a case-by-case basis.
